Write down a list of what you want to say beforehand. This will help you feel more confident and stop you from forgetting any important points. If you’re not sure, you might want to take a symptom questionnaire such as the AMS scale to help you work out what’s important to talk about.
Remember, this is a health issue – your doctor has likely seen all of your symptoms before.
You may be able to request a male member of staff (depending on their availability) if you do not feel comfortable discussing your symptoms with a female healthcare professional. This is best to request at the time of booking your appointment so staff can make sure somebody suitable is available.
Remember why you are visiting the doctor. It is hard to get help and fix problems with your body unless you talk about them. Voicing concerns and worries is the first step to improving your health.
